Last year, I made this hole in my fence, so my cat can go and play in the field behind my house. There is a filthy ditch right behind the fence, so he usually hops over (as seen in the video I made back then). I had previously put a board over the ditch, but I thought it was time to build something more permanent.
When I originally bought this property, it had this wooden ornament in the garden. It was rotten, so I took it to the dump, but I kept a part of the top arch to use as a basis of my cat bridge.
I moved the support beams to the underside of the arch, and cut up some boards to build the platform.
The board wasn’t really usable for construction purposes, since it had significant warp in it. However, for this application this was ideal and I used the curve to my advantage.
I finished the bridge by adding side bars, mostly for aesthetic reasons tbh.
I put it in place and what do you know? Mr. cat came straight away to check it out and nodded in approval.
Note that the original cat hole I made last year will need to be replaced by a new version, because it was completely rotten, and my cat got a lot bigger since then :-).
