Bicycle tags

When I was a kid, bikes used to have tags. They were small and colorful, and were made out of stamped sheet metal. Much like a car’s license plate nowadays.

I don’t know for sure what they were for exactly, but they served as inspiration for this fun little project. My brother and 2 of his friends are travelling along our country’s border by bike. Not in one sitting obviously, but spread over the last couple of years. This year they were coming full-circle, so as a reminder of their feat, I made these little tags with their logo on them.

As always, the aluminium proved to be a challenge, but some lube and a new V-bit did the trick.

I spraypainted them black and finished them off by sanding the top to bare metal again.

Mission accomplished.
